About the School

Bishop Montgomery High School was founded in 1957 in Torrance, California, just a mile from the Pacific coast. The school is named after George Thomas Montgomery, the first American bishop of Monterey–Los Angeles, and today it enrols around 860 students, of whom approximately 25–67 are international students from various countries. The 24-acre campus features modern laboratories and unique equipment: an Anatomage virtual anatomy table, which exists in only 40 US schools. The school's motto is "Justice, Truth, and Honor."

The school offers Honors and Advanced Placement courses, the AP Capstone programme, and new Academic Pathways starting from the 2025–2026 academic year. The multinational community receives support from faculty, counsellors, and upperclassmen. The extracurricular programme has existed for over 40 years and is constantly evolving: sports, creative arts, science clubs, and volunteering. Academic results are consistently high — the school regularly ranks in California rankings and holds WCEA and WASC accreditations. Graduates go on to leading universities in the US and around the world.
