Deerfield Academy was founded in 1797 and is located in the historic town of Deerfield, Massachusetts, about 100 kilometres from Boston. The 330-acre campus combines colonial architecture with modern infrastructure: it has an ice hockey rink, 10 squash courts, robotics laboratories, and a planetarium. Today, the boarding school enrols around 650 students from 42 countries, with 88% living on campus and 12% being international. The academy's motto is "Be Worthy of Your Heritage."

The academic programme offers 40 advanced courses at Honors and Advanced Placement level. The average class size is 12, the teacher-student ratio is 4:1, and 70% of faculty hold advanced degrees. In 2025, 75% of those who took AP exams scored 4 or 5, the average SAT score was 1375, and the average ACT score was 30. Alumni include King Abdullah II of Jordan, architect David Childs, and billionaire Bom Kim.

Meals are provided on a full boarding basis in a communal dining hall. The school offers generous financial aid: 38% of families receive grants, with an average of around $56,000, and families with an income up to $150,000 are exempt from tuition. Admission requires academic documents, SSAT results, and an interview.
