Phillips Exeter Academy, founded in 1781, is one of the oldest and most prestigious boarding schools in the United States. It is located in the town of Exeter, New Hampshire, about an hour's drive from Boston. Today, it enrols around 1,100 students from more than 40 states and 30 countries. The school is known for its Harkness Table method, in which classes take the form of a discussion around a round table, where every student has an equal voice. More than half of the courses are taught at college level.

The academic results of its graduates are impressive: in 2025, 86% of those who took AP exams scored 4 or 5, the average SAT score was 1438, and the average ACT score was 31. The school is part of the elite G20 Schools group and the Ten Schools Admissions Organization. Admission requires an interview, an essay, teacher references, and standardised test results.
